Legend has it in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca in the year 1911 that one afternoon on the Nueve Puntas hill Don Jesús was waiting for the approaching storm. The first ray fell directly on his most spoiled agave.

He had barely made contact with it when a lightning bolt broke off. This same thing happened repeatedly throughout his plot.

At the end of the storm, Don Jesús noticed that his agaves had a different color, even a different smell. He noticed that his essence had changed.

Don Jesús was in for a big surprise when he tasted the “Centellas” mezcal. These had provided the magic to achieve the most exquisite flavor.
